The American Chestnut Foundation (TACF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the American chestnut (Castanea dentata) tree to its native forests through a scientific research and breeding program developed by TACF's founders.Through a series of backcrossed and intercrossed generations, TACF hopes to create a tree that is blight-resistant and which retains as many American chestnut traits as possible.

There's a wealth of information about chestnuts, growing chestnuts, chestnut genetics and our breeding program that can be found around the web. If you want to do some reading of formally published information, these two pages will help you the most:
